| Trained 40 medical officers, 40 lab technicians and 40 staff nurses. The Department has also started refreshers training courses for nurses of our own institute. |

| The Department has also given training to 22 government centers (44 doctors and technicians) so that they can start blood component separation in their respective blood banks. |

| Orientation Training For Nurses of CSMMU |
|
|
|
| The training programme is being conducted by Department of Transfusion Medicine CSMMU in which nursing staff is being trained in bedside transfusion practices. It is being done regularly every week to orient one nursing staff with the changes in the transfusion procedures and the precaution needed during transfusion procedure. |

| Orientation Seminar for Interns |
|
|
|
Department of Transfusion Medicine, CSMMU organized an "ORIENTATION SEMINAR FOR INTERNS" on 20th April, 2011. The Interns were addressed by The Vice Chancellor Prof. D. K. Gupta who asked them to be vigilant and devoted to their work. The seminar was also addressed by Prof. J. V. Singh Dean Faculty of Medical sciences and Prof. A. A. Mahdi, Chief proctor and Head, Department of Biochemistry.
The interns were taught about rational use of Blood by Prof. Narsingh Verma and Bedside Transfusion Practices by Dr Tulika Chandra. They were educated about the appropriate indications for transfusion of blood and its components. The students were told the procedure to requisition blood from blood bank. They were informed about the transfusion related problems they face and how to manage them. Myths and misconceptions were discussed. Efforts were made to acquaint the interns about the precautions while requisitioning, storing and transfusing blood. The seminar proved to be very educative for the interns. It was followed the by an interactive session with the interns in which their doubts were clarified. |

| ii) CME (Continuing Medical Education) |
|
| The invited lecture was given by Col PS Dhot. The CME was a huge success with more than 200 delegates who showed active participation in the scientific programme. It was inaugurated by our Vice Chancellor Emeritus Prof. Saroj Chooramani Gopal. It was of immense use to the clinicians as well as blood bankers. |

|
| Department of Transfusion Medicine CSMMU in collaboration with IMA lucknow branch organized a CME on "Blood transfusion in clinical practices: in IMA Bhawan on 26th April 2011, Lectures were taken on problems related to blood transfusion |

| iii) Seminar |
|
|
|
|
| a) Seminar on autologous blood transfusion was held in May 2010. It was accompanied with starting of the facility of autologous blood donation in CSMMU. The aim of the seminar was to make the physicians aware of the availability of this facility in CSMMU and the type of patients who can avail it. |

| b) Seminar on Apheresis |
|
|
|
Before the onset of dengue a seminar on "Apheresis the need of hour" was held to spread awareness amongst clinicians regarding use of single donor platelets Emphasis was laid on their advantage and the indications of platelet transfusions.

| c) Meet of Lucknow Association of Hematologists and transfusion Medicine: The meet was organized by the Department. It comprised of lectures and panel discussion by various experts. The Transfusion Medicine specialists from both Government and Non Government organization participated in it. |
